Hit The Reset Button

Jan 15, 2020 | Lifestyle Development, Personal Development

If you had $86,400 and someone stole $10 from you, would you be so upset that you throw away the remaining $86,390 in hopes of getting back at the person that stole the $10? Or would you move on and make the most of the money you have left? Hopefully, you would move on.

Well, it just so happens that there are 86,400 seconds in each day. So why would you ever let a negative 10 second moment ruin the remaining time you have left in the day?

We all encounter negative situations, but ultimately, we have the power to decide whether those negative experiences steal our joy or prompt us to hit the RESET button

You can think of the RESET button as an amazing tool that you can always carry in your pocket and hit whenever you need it. The word reset is defined as, “to set again or differently”. By hitting the RESET button, you are giving yourself the opportunity to reset your focus in a new direction. It’s human nature to experience negative emotions. When bad things happen, it can be upsetting. It’s okay to process those feelings. However, we’re encouraging you not to dwell on the negative or allow it to ruin the 86,400 seconds you’ve been blessed with each day. You need to let it go. You can turn big things into little things, and little things into nothing. Hitting the RESET button can really help you get back on track. There is just something great about literally reaching in your pocket, imagining that you are holding a big red RESET button and hitting it with your hand. It is also helpful to say, or even yell, the word RESET as you are slapping your hand. Seriously, try it!

You can hit the RESET button after a frustrating moment, a disappointing situation, or a scenario where you’ve displayed a bad attitude. You can also hit the RESET button after points of feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or regretful. This button has no limits; it covers all scenarios and is always with you. After hitting it, remind yourself who you are, where you’re going, and what you’re doing. Most importantly, remember that the bad moment doesn’t define you. You can’t always control the circumstances, but you always get to choose how you respond to those circumstances. Never forget that.

With the reset button, you hold the power. You decide when to reset and how you behave after you reset.

We all have stuff that happens, but let’s work on being grateful for what we have, instead of dwelling on what we don’t. Why throw away good moments by ruminating on the few that didn’t go as planned? We are surrounded by so many good people and plenty of things to be thankful for. On occasion, when negativity clouds the view, pull your RESET button out, HIT IT, clear your mind, and get back on track. Remember, only you have the power to set the tone for your day. So stay grateful and stay focused on the positive. You can do it!

Listen Up!

Listen Up!

A wise man once told me, “You have two ears and one mouth for a reason. It’s because you should listen twice as much as you talk”. What does it mean to listen? And I mean really listen. It’s much more than simply hearing. It means to actually take mental notes of...

Have you ever heard someone say, “raise the bar”? You probably know that statement simply means “do better or try harder”. We have heard it said by our sports coaches, teachers, parents and even our business mentors. When hearing that statement “raise the bar”, we...
